As the Syrian conflict has been going on for the past 8 years many lives and future generation of families have been lost. The biggest victims of this conflict are the thousands of innocent orphan children who are desperately in need of support. Your donation could be the lifeline they need.

Sponsor an Orphan in Syria

Born into a life of conflict through no choice of their own, thousands of Syrian children are subject to severe deprivation and exploitation such as child labour, early marriage, and other damaging activities. Our priority is to support orphans in their normal or extended family environment, while supporting their lives with a surviving carer. We try to ensure that with our support, the carer is able to feed, clothe and educate the orphan in need.

Syria’s orphaned population did not ask to be born in a crisis, but for many, all they have known is war. For eight years, while the conflict has raged, they have grown into a world unable to meet their needs.

When 8 year old Omar lost his parents, he was taken in by his aunt. With children of her own, Omar’s aunt was struggling to pay the rent and provide food, leaving Omar with no choice but to work. Once Omar was enrolled onto our orphan support program, we helped ensure his aunt could feed and clothe her orphaned nephew as well as afford the house rent. Thanks to that extra help, Omar no longer needs to work and is attending school.

“I used to get upset when I’d see my friends walking to school each morning because I couldn't join them, I had to go to work. I felt so left out. I was so happy and excited when I left work and started attending school again with my friends. I love my school and I want to grow up and be an English teacher.”

Born into a life of conflict

As the world’s media turns a blind eye on Syria’s children, there has been a growing assumption that the suffering in Syria has come to an end, which is far from reality. In fact, 2018 was the deadliest year for Syria’s children since the war began in 2011.

In a statement issued by UNICEF, Executive Director Henrietta Fore wrote; “Today there exists an alarming misconception that the conflict in Syria is drawing quickly to a close – it is not. Children in parts of the country remain in as much danger as at any other time during the eight-year conflict”.

For a single donation of £250, you can support several vulnerable orphans inside Syria for one year. Alternatively, you can provide orphan aid inside Syria, providing food, shelter, and access to education for £35 per month.

At Syria Relief, we believe that every child should grow up in a safe, supportive family environment free from violence - but for thousands across Syria, this is far from the case. We currently have a waiting list, brimming with names, of vulnerable children under 16. Each one of them is in a desperate situation and are waiting to be supported. Despite the efforts of so many charities this month, there are still thousands of children waiting to be supported.

They could really use your help. So, donate now and STOP THE PAIN!

Our Child Protection Teams on the ground ensure that the orphans we sponsor are well cared for, by regularly assessing their well-being through direct contact with them, their carers, and their schoolteachers.
